  2. LOL! Jack, my son read this and just laughed! Creative, funny…and sharp! Btw..I didn’t know what the heck bachensteiner was …I had to google it! Maybe you should be the cook 😉

      Regarding your chickpea recipe; sounds delicious. The following is a bit of nutritional information on chickpeas:

      Chickpeas (also known as garbanzo beans, ceci beans, and Indian peas.) are in essence packets of nutrition. They are great sources of protein (~ 23%), crude fiber (6-9%), folate (water-soluble B vitamin), and contain minerals such as iron, phosphorus, zinc, and magnesium. When paired with whole grains, garbanzo beans provide a source of protein comparable to that of meat or dairy products, without the worry of saturated fat or cholesterol. One cup of garbanzo beans supplies roughly 27 percent of daily protein requirements. For those who are insulin sensitive, chickpeas are good sources of complex carbohydrates. In addition, if one struggles with high cholesterol, chickpeas have been shown to contribute to lowering LDL-cholesterol (the bad cholesterol) and raising HDL-cholesterol (the good cholesterol). So, clearly legumes are a great ‘invention’ for the health conscious.

    • Thanks so much, Judy 🙂 I love chickpeas too, great source of protein, and to me they’re fabulous in so many recipes. I hope the recipes or a piece of the health info gets out there and brings along something that was needed.
